Wow! I'm back and let me tell you folks I have had a couple days off and, I just don't know what the hell to do with myself. My body is so used to staying up funky hours that everything is closed because I am so used to being up in the night and sleeping all day. So anyway I got a really nice typed letter from a couple in Ohio and I would like to give a shout out to them for supporting the troops I appreciate the mail if I get a chance I will stop by the general store and ask old man Winters if he has some stamps so I can write back. I'm really not used to writing regular letters anymore and I don't think that is a good thing. Has technology really gotten that good when you can't remember the last time you wrote an old fashioned letter? Anyways your letter has given me the drive to put aside the caprel tunnel inducing keyboard and respond! I just hope I can still spell because last I checked good old paper didn't have spell check. So if you get a letter that has a bunch of crossed out stuff and slashes, just make fun of me in the letter when you respond. I hope all of my readers go to Staples or Offie Depot oday and buy some paper and pens and sit down and just write an old school love letter to their wives, girlfriends, boyfriends or husbands, hell you should even spray your perfume in the envelope for that extra little kick.

DEAR SOLDIER,
It’s a cloudy day here but that’s just as well cause we planted grass seed yesterday seed is not supposed to dry out which it does very quickly in the sun. I am sorry you get so little sleep. but I guess that is only one of the tough things you face.
I’m a perky but old (73) lady so I have never served my country in battle. I can only try to imagine what it takes. I know that what you are risking is your very life and I only pray that you return safely and that your effort at combating Islamic terrorism is successful!
I live in Oregon and the first football game of the college season was televised last Saturday. We played Austin, Texas and although the guys were good players, we skunked them nevertheless. “We” are the “Ducks”. The weather was warm and the sun was relentless so on TV you could see the folks who sat on the south side were getting redder and redder.
Then, on Sunday, after prayers, we blitzed through closets, drawers and the garage getting rid of stuff for the Good Will. There’s no basement nor is there an attic in the house so we just have to let go. Or be buried by the stuff we aren’t using anymore.
As you may have guessed, at my age I have grandchildren. The oldest, Peter, got married a year ago in May and Lizzie, age 18, is spending her first week on campus. Dick and I drove to Minneapolis to see them all a few weeks ago. On the drive back we went through Glacier National Park. If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to go. Spectacularly beautiful mountains.
Thinking of you, Liz
